From February 13 to 15, 2023, Ouagadougou will host the 3rd Session of the Steering Committee of the West Africa Tax Transition Support Program (PATF).
Experts from the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) and those from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), for 72 hours in the political capital of the country of upright men, will examine on the implementation of regional tax policies.
The PATF mainly aims to improve the management of domestic taxation and ensure better coordination of taxation in the ECOWAS and UEMOA areas; strengthen the fight against fraud, tax evasion, illicit financial flows and corruption at the regional level; strengthen the coordination and institutional capacities of WAEMU, ECOWAS and Member States in order to facilitate the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the new tax transition program; stimulate analyzes by civil society, the private sector and academia and promote public debate on domestic taxation.
This 3rd session will be an opportunity for the Steering Committee (COPIL) to present the PATF implementation report to the members; present the statement of financial commitments on the program; collect the orientations of the COPIL on the conduct of the Program; adopt the draft decisions accordingly. Without forgetting the exchanges between the two commissions (UEMOA and ECOWAS) for the appropriation and sustainability of the achievements of the PATF.
It should be noted that the West Africa Tax Transition Support Program (PATF) covers the period 2020-2022 and is financed by the Commission of the European Union under the 11th EDF (European Development Fund ) for the benefit of the WAEMU and ECOWAS Commissions. It concerns the 15 ECOWAS countries and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. It is implemented by three executing agencies, namely LINPICO/Adam Smith, the OECD and DT Global for PATF communication.
