At the head of a government delegation, the Prime Minister, Albert Ouédraogo, carried out a field trip on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 to Kongoussi, in the Center-North region, to inquire about the living conditions of displaced persons. internal (PDI).
The humanitarian situation in our country worries the Prime Minister, Albert Ouédraogo. Indeed, after having instructed some of his ministers to touch the humanitarian situation in Ouahigouya (capital of the North region), on Friday March 25, the Head of Government devoted his first official outing to People Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Kongoussi, Bam province (Centre-Nord region). This visit by the Prime Minister to Kongoussi aimed to get an idea of the living conditions of IDPs, but also to instruct the competent services to take all appropriate measures for their holistic care. The Head of Government also intended to send to these compatriots in distress, a message of solidarity and comfort from the President of Faso,
To do this, two sites in the city of Kongoussi were visited by the government delegation. These are the UNHCR Wendkouni site, located in sector 2, which houses 884 IDPs, and the UNHCR Maison d’Arrêt site in sector 1, with 1,005 IDPs.
According to the Prime Minister, this field trip allowed him to get an idea of the difficulties encountered in caring for displaced people, but also to see the “tremendous work” being done by humanitarian and state agents and by the Defense and Security Forces (FDS).
He took this opportunity to encourage and congratulate all the actors who intervene on the ground to support the Government in the care of IDPs.
To the displaced people of Kongoussi, and through them, all the others throughout the territory, Albert Ouédraogo sent a message of hope. “The Government is working hard to improve your situation and find quick solutions for a return to peace in our country,” he insisted.
A trip well appreciated by the IDPs, who expressed their gratitude to the Government for all the actions undertaken to support them. Nevertheless, as grievances, they urged the Government to make more effort in the mobilization of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) so that they support the FDS in the fight against terrorism.
Before going to the sites hosting the displaced, Albert Ouédraogo paid a courtesy visit to Naaba Koubri, the Canton Chief of Kongoussi.
During this visit to Kongoussi, the Head of Government was accompanied by the Governor of the Center-North region, Blaise Zoewendnanega Ouédraogo, the Ministers of Humanitarian Action, Lazare Windlassida Zoungrana, of Health and Public Hygiene, Robert Lucien Jean-Claude Kargougou, Sports, Youth and Employment, Abdoul Wabou Drabo.
