National COVID-19 Forum: “… not to offer it what terrorism could not obtain”, invites the Prime Minister

The tone of the work of the national forum on COVID-19 was set on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, in Ouagadougou, during an official ceremony chaired by the Prime Minister, Christophe Dabiré.

One of the reasons for this forum, according to the head of government, Christophe Dabiré, is to present to the nation’s vital forces a stage plan in the fight against COVID-19 in Burkina Faso in order to re-mobilize them to maintain the vigilance in the face of disease and learning to live with it. Hence the title of the chosen theme: “to re-mobilize the entire nation to intensify the response to COVID-19 and learn to live with it”. He also considers that the holding of said forum derives its relevance from the constant ambient skepticism coupled with a dangerous slackening in the observance of barrier measures. He therefore did not fail to challenge and make known the government’s expectations vis-à-vis each citizen. “COVID-19 is still here and very real. It exists and it kills.

Community mobilization is a big part of the national response plan to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. “The national crisis response plan is based, among other things, on community mobilization to successfully curb the epidemic and reduce its perverse effects on the socio-economic level. It aims to generate broad support from individuals, families and the community to the various measures taken or to be taken to slow the spread of the pandemic, ”he said.

The tenant of the prime minister also returned to the response organized by the government in order to fight effectively against the COVID-19 pandemic, and which ultimately gave rise to the national response plan. “The response organized by the government, on the instructions of the President of Faso, went through the establishment of the national committee to manage the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic. He proposed a clear roadmap to coordinate response actions at all levels of intervention. This work made it possible to integrate into the response plan for the coronavirus epidemic, previously adopted by the Council of Ministers, the various incidences of this disease, thus giving rise to the national response plan to the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic. submitted today for your kind appreciation ”,

The national response plan to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, which is submitted to the nation’s vital forces for assessment has already been validated by the national committee, approved by the President of Faso, and has been presented to the government at a government seminar.

As a reminder, faced with the degrading situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world in general and in Burkina Faso in particular, the Burkinabè government, on the instruction of the President of Faso, has taken measures to restrict freedoms, but also social measures with the aim of slowing the evolution of the pandemic and relieving its people. Government interventions with regard to social measures, which were also aimed at supporting businesses affected by the pandemic, are estimated at “CFAF 400 billion, and have affected all economic sectors, all sectors of national life with a significant economic impact on the government’s agenda ”, faith of the Prime Minister.
